The Chairman of Tata Sons, Ratan Tata, has announced that Cyrus Mistry will be his successor to lead the Tata empire. 43-year-old Mistry is belonging to a non-Tata family and this is for the second time a non-Tata member is appointed at the top of the Tata business. Mistry is the son of Pallonji Mistry, the largest shareholder of Tata Sons. Cyrus Mistry will work with Ratan Tata for an year and take over the business when Ratan Tata retires in December, 2012. Currently he is appointed as the Deputy Chairman of Tata Sons.
Cyrus Mistry is a graduate in civil engineering Imperial College, London and a Master of Science in management from the London Business School and currently the Managing Director of Shapoorji Pallonji Group, has been a Director of Tata Sons since August 2006.
