Recently there was an update for WordPress 2.8.5, have you updated your blog if you are using WordPress? If no, you should do it at the earliest. Regular updates are released to keep your blogging tool updated and guarded against several security threats, performance issues and could be some new features. Many feel upgrading their CMS a tedious process, but it should never be like that. Usually only the core files are updated and you should not lose any changes that you have done to your theme.

If you have done some modifications to the core files, then you will have some trouble upgrading. I would suggest avoiding any changes to any of the core files, instead, you can get a your own hack file as a plugin which I have done. I have written a plugin which takes care of all the modifications that I need to do in the functioning of my WordPress Installations. I know most of the bloggers are not script writers, but they can get this done to avoid all future upgrade problems.
